As I reflect back, at my elementary school years, I have fond memories of my mom doing my hair. I always had a cute or fun hairstyle…and at times, in retrospect…not so cute hairstyles but fond memories of that time nonetheless! 😀
Needless to say, when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter, I dreamed and schemed of all the cute ways I would style her hair and the bonding that would occur while I did it.
Now that my daughter is of age for me to do her hair, I’m not sure “bonding time” is the phrase I would use to describe me doing her hair…. Don’t get me wrong, I make sure to chat with her and engage while I do her hair but 90% of the time we both want her hair done quickly and without fuss, so we can move on to the next task of the day.
Topsy Tail has been my lifesaver for quick easy, low fuss hairstyles! It allows me to do cute, simple hairstyles, LITERALLY in a matter of 3 minutes. Styles that get the hair out of my daughters face and that BEST OF ALL – Last Nicely Through Naps!
Tips for Getting My Daughter To Sit Still:
I started doing my daughters hair from the moment she had the littlest bit of hair to do. So, she has gotten into a habit from a young age to sit in the sink and let me do her hair.
We used to have a problem with her turning on the water in the sink as I did her hair and since we have double sinks, my husband turned off the water in one of the sinks and that sink has become the designated hair sink.
I like to reserve iPad for long trips, so she is typically entertained with a book and snacks if I end up doing a more cute, up-do type style, otherwise, the video above of the Simple Topsy Tail Hairstyle takes 3 minutes and we’re done before she gets antsy and bored.
Favorite Tool For Taking The Rubber Bands Out:
Is a simple seam ripper or thread cutter. They’re super inexpensive and work great. It is important to be sure that you are only cutter the pony tail because obviously you could accidently cut her hair with this tool too but when used well, it is the easiest most effective way to get ponytails out of my daughters hair!
You can get them for .99 at Walmart but here is a link for Amazon
